Andreas Mrozek

Andreas studied at the Universities of Hamburg and Stirling. After graduation, he joined the container logistics department of Hamburg Süd. He was appointed Joint General Manager of the business unit Continental Western Europe and thereafter of the business unit United Kingdom after working in various positions within the container logistics department and within the controlling department. He was transferred as Joint Regional Director South America West Coast to Santiago, thereafter as Joint Regional Director South America East Coast to Sao Paulo until returning to Hamburg assuming the responsibility of Global Marine and Terminal Operations.

Starting as ship mechanic, then as a Master Mariner and Chief Engineer, Jörn entered the marine operations environment. As head of marine operation units for northern Europe, later for Europe, until joining Future Ship at Germanischer Lloyd as Principal Consultant and Head of Operation Practice where he developed consultancy services in the maritime industry for vessels in operation including operational profiling, workshops, tool development and implementation to a profitable business unit. Upon returning to Hapag-Lloyd, he was tasked to establish the Fleet Support Center. His professional background in naval engineering, marine operations and central planning enabled him to establish and manage a high performing team in FSC facing the pressing challenges in the industry.

Ronald's 40-year career, primarily in the container shipping sector, included responsibilities that included: global container shipping, end-to-end supply chain management, marine terminal operations, international and domestic intermodal rail operations, and alliance/consortium agreement management. He has played a key role in implementing some of the most innovative developments in the container shipping sector. Widdows' contributions to the industry have been recognized by the U.S. National Defense Transportation Association, the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business, the United Seaman's Service, the Containerization and Intermodal Institute, and Containerization International.

Wootton joined the YILPORT Holding management team as CIO. He was born and educated in South Africa and has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering as well as an MBA. He started his career as a management consultant working for Andersen Consulting. He was then the IT Manager for SA Clothing and following that the IT Operations and later Executive Manager for IT at Transnet Port Terminals. He has been involved in the port industry specifically in terminal operations and automation systems for over 15 years.

According to a survey conducted by Gartner, supply chain executives and employees have differing perceptions of their organization's capability in adapting to change. The survey showed that 36% of supply chain executives believe they are ready for the challenge, while only 13% of employees think they are. (Source)

A recent study of more than 1,000 senior global executives found that, while 97% understood how Big Data could benefit their supply chain, only 17% reported implementing any of the findings. (Source)

According to a study conducted by Accenture, using Big Data analytics in operations can lead to an increase in supply chain efficiency of 10% or greater. (Source)
